Has anyone here ever read the same audiobook more than once?
I have a friend who is a big re-reader. I read something once and then never again. I'm curious how prevalent re-reading is among audiobook readers.

I have re-read some classics on audio that I had read in print before, but I haven't listened to a book twice. I am always tempted by books I haven't read yet and I don't want to take time reading what I've already read!

i've read and listened to quite a few books more than once.i've read brian lumley's necroscope series three or four times now and it is by far my favourite series of books but they aren't available on audiobook,i started reading these about fifteen years ago and keep going back to them - i'm dying for an audio version to come out.i've listened to the harry potter books twice, once by jim dale and once by stephen fry.philip pullman's dark materials trilogy is another series that i've listened to twice and i've also read the books twice.i've read all the jack reacher books and also listened to them, the same goes for john connolly's charlie parker series.i don't seem to do it as much these days thanks to great sites like this one where i get recomendations for books by authors that i wouldn't have heard of otherwise.

I have only been listening for a few months and so there hasn't been much time to listen again. I would have thought that I wouldn't repeat listen as I rarely read a book twice. I did however listen again to the Millenium Trilogy, partly because I couldn't afford a new audiobook. Having done so I realise that listening to a book again is not the same as reading it again. It's more like seeing a favourite film again.
I so enjoyed it again that I'm now listening to a book again that I've only just recently finished. I find that there are things that I missed the first time around, and I also find there are certain parts I really look forward to hearing. Maybe it's the way the book makes me feel?

Like madmary I've only been listening a short while so have not thought about re-listening yet. In my paper life I didn't re-read, the only exception being Agatha Christie. I did re-read hers and would be stumped all over again LOL
But unlike paper I do think I would listen again if I'd run out of audiobooks, I don't think they 'stick' in my head quite the same way actually reading did. There's so many books for me to catch up on right now all I think about is what I'll listen to next and haven't been tempted to listen to anything a second time yet... unless rewinding counts lol
Cost could be a factor too, I lived in second hand bookshops when I read paper books, I don't think I'll have the same availability with audiobooks.

Hey, mick, Stephen Fry vs. Jim Dale? Which was better?

I have only listened to one book twice, Ender's Game, but I do look forward to re-listening to a few, such as The Gargoyle and Beat The Reaper. A real favorite deserves a second listen as I seem to miss things the first time, as I do with great movies.

it's very, very hard to choose between the two dorothy, they're both so well suited to the books and do a fantastic job with the narration.but if i had to pick one it would be stephen fry,he seems to put more enthusiasm into the characters and really brings them to life with his acting.
'' Having done so I realise that listening to a book again is not the same as reading it again. It's more like seeing a favourite film again. '' that's a great point mary,i've never looked at it that way but you're spot on,that and the cost thing as aprilla says.

Re: Has anyone here ever read the same audiobook more than once?
I re-read and re-listen to quite a few books (same with film really) quite often if i particularly enjoy the content.
To me .. it's like listening to music, if you like a perticular track/album then you listen to it over and over ...why not books/film?

Re: Has anyone here ever read the same audiobook more than once?
I feel the same Colin. Trouble is for me the books I read are crime novels and part of the appeal is the surprise twist endings, so I don't normally read a paper book more than once. However, I found listening to my crime novels a second time even with only quite a short gap a pleasure as part of the pleasure is listening to the actor's voice interpreting the words and painting pictures in my head. The process of listening becomes as enjoyable as finding out what happens in the end.
